YOUR DEVELOPMENTAL EDIT INCLUDES:
STORY CRAFT style sheet
This style sheet is a record of the important details of your story. It is used to keep track of character attributes, major plot points, and other important details that should remain consistent.
Example: if throughout the manuscript the protagonist has hazel eyes, but then in one instance has blue eyes. The style sheet will help catch those inconsistencies.
EDITORIAL NOTE
The editorial note is a big-picture discussion of the manuscript as a whole. The note is usually between 2-8 pages long and will identify major story craft problems, as well as provide suggestions on how to improve them.
CHAPTER ANALYSIS
A chapter analysis sheet is meant to provide the author with a chapter-by-chapter discussion for troubleshooting any weak spots in the story. For each chapter, specific passages will be discussed with suggestions for fixing any issues in character development, plot progression, or other story craft elements.
in-text edited manuscript
For developmental edits, an edited manuscript will be a line-by-line critique of the content. Sidebar comments are used to draw the authors attention to specific passages, ask questions, or make suggestions.
